What ever did happen to actress Kristy Mcnichol? Kristy McNichol has been appearing again on tv in Empty Nest and White Dog and the question on peoples minds is What ever happened to Kristy McNichol?
Kristy McNichol had a huge amount of success on the screen in both movies and tv and then she simple disappeared from acting in 1998. From her famous roles in Starsky and Hutch through to Bionic Woman, she hit the screen at only 8 years old doing commercials and by the time she was 11 she was already showing up on Love American Style, and numerous other child roles. In 1983 after she had a fewer spotlight performance there was the disappearance from the French Alps where she had been filing the movie Just the Way you are. People speculated that she was using drugs but later it came out that she was not a drug addict but was simply bipolar.
In 1988 she did a come back on Empty Nest did that for four years and then after a bout of depression, she quit. She continued to do a few gigs here and there up until 1998 and then she left acting for good.
From what is known she has gone into teaching high school drama.
Her last statement she made in 2001 was “A lot of people have wondered what I’ve been up to. I retired from my career after 24 years. My feeling was that it was time to play my biggest part — MYSELF! I must say that it has been the best thing that ever happened to me. So many fans are disappointed that I’m not currently acting, however, some may not realize that the process I’m in at this time is necessary and vital for my personal happiness and well-being.”
